Founder Dr. Manzara named a Delaware 2024 Outstanding Woman in STEM

On March 26, 2024 HFHK’s founder Dr. Thianda Manzara was recognized by Million Women Mentors of Delaware as one of their 2024 Delaware Outstanding Women in STEM. Dr. Manzara and nine other phenomenal women were honored by Governor John Carney, Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Senators Stephanie Hansen and Nicole Poore, and Representative Debra Heffernan. The day included the signing of a proclamation and the passing of a resolution recognizing March 24, 2024 as Women and Girls in STEM Day in the State of Delaware. Honorees and guests joined the Governor in his office for the signing of the proclamation and watched as the House and Senate passed the resolution.

Dr. Manzara founded Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids in 2008 after noticing a disconnect in what students learned in science classes and knowing where their food came from. She created our “Education Cultivation” program to bridge that gap. Today, almost 22,000 students across the state are participating in our program this 2would023-2024 school year. Currently partnering with 52 schools, it is our vision to have a vegetable garden at every school in Delaware. The HFHK staff and board congratulate Dr. Manzara for this well-deserved recognition.
